[2022/07/24] nyc tour with KF (part 1)

Part 1 was supposed to start a few days ago, but I’m making today day 1 regardless. Also please note, again, that I’m writing this on July 26, when my memory of this day has somewhat faded.

Here are a couple of things that I did today and will give honest reviews for:

  • Ellen’s Stardust Diner (1650 Broadway, New York, NY 10019). Expensive plus a long wait, but definitely worth going at least once. The singers are talented and confetti is always a hit.
  • Come From Away Broadway show. Compared to Moulin Rouge, Come From Away is definitely not as extravagant and glamourous, but the show scores for being touching, light-hearted, and simple yet creative. It’s a story of cultural gaps and differences being bridged because of love and friendship. The jolly music also contributed a huge part to the success of the play. KF and I enjoyed it very much!
  • Jajaja Mexicana (119 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249). Delicious Mexican food, all plant-based with a fun, vibrant atmosphere. Chips and queso were great and so was the Pollo Coco. KF liked his Barbacoa taco, which I thought was a little too strong. In the end, when they gave us the check, they attached a cute little postcard to it, which I took and saved.
  • Biking across Williamsburg bridge was awesome. Highly recommend an electric bike and going from the Brooklyn side! We also saw people walking on the roof of a moving train. True story, no pictures though.

I also want to take note of today as the most stressful day of our adventure. Keywords were miscommunication and loneliness. The good part is we resolved that through a conversation and many hugs. It’s a little tiring to be in fighting mode all the time, yet I thought it was important to keep working on our problems together and be very honest about how we think/feel to the other person.
